Crystal Blue Band Update - May 28, 2019

Well friends, it's been a difficult, but also blessed last year or so. The difficult part stems from the various health issues the group members have faced beginning with my bypass procedure in Oct of 2017, Ron Rosman's back operation a few months ago and the major replacement procedure more recently experienced by Marylou, the wife of our supporting act member, Johnny Angel. The blessed part is that we have all recovered, or are in the process of doing so as we speak to you today. Another blessing is that we have recently learned The Crystal Blue Band and our friends, Johnny Angel and The Halos will soon be sharing the stage together again after about a 16 month layoff. We will be bringing you more info very soon regarding that show. In the meantime, thanks for visiting our site, hope you enjoy it and return often! In the meantime, keep playin' and prayin', …………….. and every little ting gonna be alright!! Mike Vale

FORMER, ORIGINAL SHONDELLS TAKE NEW NAME,BEGIN NEW CONCERT TOUR It's been 50 years since Mike Vale, Ron Rosman and Eddie Gray performed together in their first concert as members of the great American Classic Rock group Tommy James and the Shondells and approximately 45 years since their last show together. But all of that is about to change., Rosman (keyboards and vocals) and Gray (guitar and vocals)--- who along with Drummer Peter Lucia, who passed in 1987, are most often referred to as "The Original Shondells"--- are preparing to launch their new tour as "The Crystal Blue Band". The premier preview event will take place in September at Vale's annual Traci Vucish Memorial Classic golf tournament and picnic, a fundraiser for the Lupus Foundation in memory of his daughter Traci, who was lost to the disease in 1983.The show will also feature members of other great Pittsburgh-- based groups: The Vogues, Jimmy Beaumont and the Skyliners, Johnny Angel and the Halos, Norm Nardini, Billy Price, Hall of Fame sax phenom Kenny Blake and a host of other celebrities from music and sports. Unfortunately for those of you who would like to attend the event, it has been sold out for over 2 months."But fear not!" Vale says. "We will soon be announcing a series of shows which will begin in late 2015 early 2016. Details will be posted on our website, The group will be performing most of their smash hits from the Sixties as well as some of their more recent creations and recordings. The Shondells were one of a select few American groups in the Sixties that charted Top 40 hits while raising the bar musically with memorable yet philosophical lyrics and inventive arrangements that instantly evoke great memories. I know that you, like me, will find it refreshing to hear our favorite Classic Rock tunes performed by the guys that wrote and recorded our favorite songs as opposed to those claiming to be what they never were. The sun is a' risin', most definitely! Dave Molter Columnist, Washington, PA. Observer-Reporter
